MURALESACCIDES ONE NIGHT – Crazyone
Now look up: in front of you you can see a large mural created by Angelo Genova, aka CrazyOne, an artist originally from Caltanissetta. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, CrazyOne has been able to stand out in the Italian street art scene thanks to his unique and very recognizable approach.
Well, did you know that contrary to the quick and improvised style typical of many street artists, CrazyOne works with extreme precision using the stencil technique? His works always start from real images, reworked through a grid made of dots, marks, hatches, which only from a distance give back the complete image.
It is an effect that combines abstractionism and photorealism, inviting us to look at things from different perspectives.
Here it depicted an iconic scene from the film It Happened One Night (It HappenedOne Night, 1934), directed by Frank Capra. The film was a great success, winning five Academy Awards: best picture, best director, best actor, best actress and best screenplay. A true cinematic milestone.
The plot tells of a rebellious young heiress who flees for love, crossing the path of a penniless journalist in search of the scoop of her life. But what begins as a trip of convenience turns into a heartfelt love story.
The mural captures just the moment when the two protagonists realize their feelings.
Get closer and observe the details: up close, the work looks like an abstract weave of lines and dots. But as soon as you step away, asharp, powerful image takes shape. It is an invitation to reflect: even in life, sometimes you just need a change of perspective to see things more clearly, to grasp the whole, to recognize meaning.
