Next to it, <strong>a College of Mary was founded in 1731<\/strong>, testifying to the importance of the site for the spiritual and cultural formation of the community. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The present single rectangular hall layout is simple but harmonious, with a concrete gabled elevation and a small bell tower completing the exterior appearance. But it is by crossing the threshold that one discovers the true Baroque heart of this church. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In<strong> 1880<\/strong> the interior was transformed into <strong>a masterpiece of sacred craftsmanship<\/strong>: bisacquinese artist <strong>Alberto Guarino<\/strong>, a master in stucco, covered the walls with <strong>pure gold.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He made a sumptuous chapel, adorned with columns, capitals and floral friezes, creating a symphony of stucco where festoons of fruit, leaves and flowers intertwine, framing heads of <strong>angelic putti<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>1930 <\/strong>the facade was renovated by the wall painter <strong>Pasquale Bacile<\/strong>, who refreshed its appearance without altering its simplicity.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inside, devoutly guarded, is a precious 17th-century statue of <strong>St. Vitus, protector of animals and farmers<\/strong>, venerated for centuries throughout the area.
